Off Road Explorer Enews #10
July 10 Edition
Welcome to the Off Road Explorer Enews #10. First things first. We've been absent for a couple of months due to difficulties beyond our control. Well sort off... We've been busy getting the BMW GS Safari Tasmania DVD Once that was out of the way the internet gods took a dump on our DSL connection and we've been off the air for almost four weeks. I've made more calls to India and Singapore that I'd like to remember and when Optus commercials come on the television I have an uncontrolable urge to throw up. There is a message there for everybody. Issue #25 debuts our new offroadexplorer.com project bike the Husqvarna TE610. We tested the bike fresh out of the crate on a 700 km round trip straight out to Wyangala Dam in Mid NSW and back (see this issue header image with Whitey and I creek crossing). Graham 'Whitey222' was our guide so if you're looking for a route west out of Sydney then check out out offroadexplorer.com ride in issue 25. Look for Clubby's Jacket feature plus his bike prep for his not so new '83 Yamaha XT600 Tenere. We also feature the new Yamaha TDM 900 Trail Desert Master. If you ever thought a V-Strom might be your cup of tea then check out this special edition model from Yamaha.
Husqvarna TE610 Project Bike
Our new project bike is off and running. We're pretty excited about the Husqvarna TE610 whose basic package makes a great foundation for a high performance adventure bike. The Husky out of the box needs a few basics so we fitted Barkbusters, a B&B Off-Road bash plate and a Unifilter air filter plus we made a couple of other simple mods.

Catching Up - Trail Zone #24
Issue #24 was a bit of an adventure bike feast with the report on the BMW GS Safari Tasmania which has to be one of the biggest adventure bike events in Australia. Once you've read the story then see the film. Well, the DVD actually. Copies of the BMW Safari DVD are available for immediately delivery. The multiple Bismarks capsizing on heartbreak hill on Day 4 alone is worth it. Check out the DVD trailer on our home page.
Clubby tests the KTM 990 Adventure and I test the new G 650 GS as a part of my five day trek around Tasmania following the Safari. Popgun rides a Kiwi tricked out Yamaha XT660 on the New Zealand and even lets Clubby take a photo of him sitting on it. To top it off we check out Steve 'Wolfman' Smith's heavily accessorised BMW R1200 GSA. From it's 21" front wheel to the Staintune pipe it's a one of a kind.

Clubby Goes Outback
We mentioned earlier this year that Clubby bought a genuine '83 Tenere which this week has been touring the Flinders Ranges with DR650 Adventure Guru Ron Grant. After getting the once over from Yamaha Tecnician Darren Thompson it appears the XT600 hasn't missed a beat and we can look forward to some classic pics in issue #26 of Trail Zone. By the way. Check out the number plate Clubby scored for his classic four banger. And he hassles me about not doing spell checks.
New Tenere is Almost Here!
We have it on good authority that the first shipment of new Yamaha XT660Z Teneres are on their way to Australia after making it on the boat just before the european summer break. So if we are lucky we may get a September release if all goes well. Yamaha still can't give an exact release date but with the return of such an iconic adventure bike we'll be there to get our first impressions.
Whitey On Assignment
Graham Whitehead better know as Whitey222 Site Administrator on the ORE Forum has set off across the country. Travelling solo, Whitey's carrying a Spot Messenger so check out his progress as he heads across to the Safari via Uluru.
