Off Road Explorer Enews #4
November 08 Edition
Welcome to the Off Road Explorer Enews #4. We've just got through the Melbourne Motorcycle Expo and next weekend is the Sydney Show. Thanks for all those ORE regulars and Trail Zone readers who called in to say g'day at the Trail Zone stand.
Clubby, Popgun, Tania and I were busy signing up new subscribers entering in the Choose Your Ride promotion. Plenty of adventure riders from Victoria signed up for our free Enews subscription and to all of you, welcome aboard.
We just put the next issue of Trail Zone to bed and once again its chockas full of trail and adventure content. From ORE there's our Coffs Harbour adventure, our next installment on our Transalp Project Bike and a bunch of new adventure products. The big bonus with Trail Zone #21 is the new 'In The Zone 2' DVD. It features our Flinders Ranges Adventure plus other enduro rides, bike reviews and Popguns Expert Trail Tip. Check out the DVD trailer on the ORE Home Page.
Clubby gives me the odd enduro assignment and once again I got to test the new 2009 range of Husqvarna enduro bikes. So in the next issue of Trail Zone I test the new Husqvarna TE310 thumper. If you're a 250 thumper enduro rider you have to check out this bike.
Transalp Project Bike
Off Road Explorer's second project bike is starting to make some progress. Motorrad Garage flew in some new parts for the Transalp. Barkbusters, Bagster and Wolfman are also in on the project. Check out the details in Trail Zone #21.
New Products
Giant Loop™ Saddlebag
The Giant Loop™ Saddlebag is ultra-lightweight and
self supported. It requires no racks or a sub-frame and offers off-road touring motorcyclists a way to carry all their essential gear for multi-day trips without sacrificing the performance of their bikes. The makers claim that the system is the lightest, best handling way to turn your dualsport machine into a long-distance touring bike. Giant Loop advantages include a biomorphic design combining tail bag and saddlebags into one component that becomes an integrated part of the bike; no sub-frame modifications or rack required. It fits virtually all late-model Japanese and European dirt bikes including KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki. Now available in Australia from Adventure Moto on 1300 135 286. For all the details, go to www.giantloopmoto.com.
Snowy Ride
The Snowy Ride is over for another year and attracted 2,950 riders and amongst those was a decent sprinkling of adventure bikes. R1200 GS riders seemed to be the most frequently spotted on the ride.
The adventure loop was marked on the event map and we checked them out and I hav to say they were awesome. The event raised over $250,000 for cancer research. All we can say is that you have to get your backside down there for 2009. The next Snowy Ride will be held on Saturday 7th November 2009. Make sure you enter for a great ride and a great cause. Check out the pictorial in Trail Zone #22.
Travel Updates

Northern NSW Adventure
Next issue of Trail Zone features our Coffs Harbour/Northern NSW adventure. This ride was a little different as Boris Everson was my tour guide and we wanted to get a taste of what he had to offer. Boris is famous for his Coffs Harbour Detour Enduro rides and some say they're the best in the country. We're not one to give up Boris's secret routes so you won't find the route of this ride on our web site. If you want to check out one of Coffs Harbour Detour Adventure Rides then book into to one of these dates.

Snowy to Wadbilliga National Park NSW
Our ride home from the Snowy Ride was an absolute pearler once again thanks to Steve Wilson, Dave, Neil, Jason and Hayden. We had a great ride from Jindabyne via Dalgety, Cooma across to Wadbilliga National Park coming out at Moruya on the NSW south coast. The ride won't appear in Trail Zone but the route will be on ORE Travel in the near future. Thanks to Steve Wilson for the awesome pic above of the country side outside of Cooma.
Clubby's Intermot Pics
Clubby is back from INTERMOT Cologne and brought back a heap of info and catalogues for me. Here's just a few pics he snapped.
